Does the W3Schools certificate expire?
Short answer
No. A W3Schools certificate never expires. Once you pass the exam, the certificate is issued in your name, stays valid for life, and its verification link and QR code keep working. There is nothing to renew and nothing to pay again.
Validity
The certificate is issued the moment you pass the exam. It has no end date. There is no annual fee, no continuing-education requirement and no re-examination. The same applies to all 45+ certifications and to the career-path certificates.
The exam has no deadline either
When you buy a course or an exam, you can take the exam whenever you want. There is no time window to start it in, and your three attempts do not expire. Online, multiple choice and adaptive: about 60 questions in 60 minutes. Three attempts are included. 40% passes (Intermediate), 75% is Advanced and 90% is Professional. There is no deadline for taking the exam and the certificate never expires.
Verification keeps working
Every certificate carries a unique URL on verify.w3schools.com and a QR code. An employer who scans the code or opens the link sees your name, the certification, the level and the date. That page does not go away.
What can change
- The technology moves on. Your HTML certificate from 2026 says you passed the 2026 exam. If you want to show current knowledge in five years, you can take the exam again and get a new, dated certificate. That is a choice, not a requirement.
- Your level is fixed. If you passed at Intermediate and later want Advanced or Professional, you take the exam again. Each exam purchase includes three attempts.
Keeping a copy
You can download the certificate as a PDF from your W3Schools account at any time and add it to LinkedIn with the verification link as the credential URL.
