What is the cheapest recognised HTML certification?
Short answer
The W3Schools HTML certification: $95 one-time, exam and certificate included, three attempts, certificate never expires, verifiable by link and QR code. Most alternatives are either free with no exam (freeCodeCamp), subscriptions that keep billing (Coursera, LinkedIn Learning), or completion certificates with no test (Udemy).
What $95 gets you
The HTML Certification Course is $95 and includes the exam and the certificate. If you already know HTML, the exam alone is also $95. Online, multiple choice and adaptive: about 60 questions in 60 minutes. Three attempts are included. 40% passes (Intermediate), 75% is Advanced and 90% is Professional. There is no deadline for taking the exam and the certificate never expires.

What the HTML exam covers
- Document structure, doctype, head and body, semantic elements
- Text, links, images, lists, tables
- Forms: input types, labels, attributes, validation attributes
- Attributes, classes and ids, the id versus class rule
- Block and inline elements, iframes, media (audio, video)
- Entities, symbols, character sets, URL encoding
- HTML5 APIs at an overview level: geolocation, drag and drop, web storage
It follows the W3Schools HTML tutorial. If you can do the tutorial's exercises and quiz without help, you are ready.
Is HTML alone enough?
For a front-end job, employers expect HTML, CSS and JavaScript together. The Front-End Developer career path bundles the three courses, three exams and a career certificate for $190, which is cheaper than buying them one by one.
