This course is for past attendees. If it is your first time signing up General English Language Program, please go to General English Language Program - Any Level ( For First-time Attendees).

No previous knowledge of English is required, but prior experience will be built upon.

What wil you learn in level 2

In Level 2, you will strengthen your skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You will build on your basic vocabulary and grammar knowledge to communicate in simple and routine tasks, such as sharing personal information, shopping, and discussing employment. You will also develop your understanding of American culture as it relates to the English language. This course aligns with the Common European Framework Reference Scale A2, which means that you will be able to communicate about your background, environment, and areas of immediate need using simple and direct language. The prerequisite for this course is completing Level 1, testing into Level 2, or passing the CEFR Level Test (A1).

Your starting point is decided by your placement test results. If you stay at one level for 8 months, you should move to the next level unless your teacher think you haven't improved enough. In that case, you can stay at your current level for 3 more months. After that, you must move to a higher level or leave the program.

Monthly exams and weekly assignments:

Monthly Exam: You will have an exam every month.

Weekly Assignments: You need to complete weekly writing and speaking assignments. You need to do a weekly speed writing exercise. This is not graded but helps you get better at writing quickly.
